Quantitative mineral-resource assessments are defined as the numerical estimate of the amount, quality, and in some cases, value of undiscovered minerals (that is, metal or industrial mineral) present within a specified area (tract). Their purpose is to provide a framework for making decisions by governments or institutions concerning mineral resources under conditions of uncertainty. The spatial database of the national assessment of mineral resources is setup by summarising all of the assessment areas. In the process, the predicted mineral resource is first completed followed by the prediction, integration and assessment of mineral resources for each of the provinces in by: 6.

Sibanye Gold Limited’s guiding principles are to ensure integrity and responsibility in reporting its Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves, to be compliant with public and internal regulatory codes and to inform all stakeholders on the status of the Group’s fundamental asset base. Mineral resource is the in situ natural concentration of minerals within a geologically defined envelope. The geological characteristics (quantity, grade, and continuity) are partly known, estimated, or interpreted from broad-based evidence and regional knowledge. The format provides (1) the stage of geological exploration and assessment.

Mineral resource assessments provide a synthesis of available information about where mineral deposits are known and suspected in the Earth's crust, what commodities may be present, and amounts of undiscovered resources. The purpose of the Mineral Resource Assessment is to address two main issues: to identify whether a mineral resource is viable for mineral extraction, and if the mineral resource is viable, for.
